GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, performs skilled and semiskilled general labor, maintenance, fuel delivery, and upkeep work in the City Airport.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Performs a variety of responsible airport equipment operation and manual labor tasks as assigned; works independently with little immediate supervision, and makes proper decisions using sound judgment.

- Pumps aviation fuels into aircraft, following proper safety procedures; performs cashiering duties associated with aviation fuel sales.

-Communicates with general public, hangar tenants and others in order to coordinate daily operations, special events, and maintenance of airport grounds and buildings.

- Operates a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.

- Performs skilled and semiskilled maintenance and manual labor work

- Assists in the maintenance and repair of airfield, roadways, structures and structural components, work areas and facilities.

- Performs routine building maintenance and custodial duties; maintains structures and equipment, and makes minor maintenance repairs.

- Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.

- Completes required daily logs and reports.

- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Aviation Engineer for immediate employment for the Phoenix, AZ office. Candidate will be responsible for the management of one or more airfield design projects, in accordance with the written project/construction documents and established AECOM policies and procedures. This hire will plans and direct the design of aviation project(s) through the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout phase of the projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer one or more design projects, to include responsibility for budget, schedule and quality adherence and performance, in accordance with the contract documents and established procedures.
  • Oversee the design & construction support activities for each Aviation projects at Air Carrier and General Aviation Airports.
  • Manage and coordinate the project design team, which may consist of one or more Design Engineer(s), CADD Designers and other support staff.
  • Provide documentation as required by client for the administration and execution of each project.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations for changes and/or modifications to the design and construction scope of services.
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities including client interaction, conference attendance, proposal preparation and presentations for new work.

*Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing aviation projects at air carrier airports.
  • Arizona PE license, or ability to obtain.
  • Experience designing construction projects in an active airfield environment, Part 139 airports preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience in writing a Construction Safety Plan, project specifications, a Design Report, a QA/QC Plan, a Document Control Plan, and a Project Procedures Manual.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the FAA Advisory Circulars (AC’s), FAA Design criteria, and FAA and ADOT Grant Processes and Procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Project, and AUTOCAD Civil 3D.
  • Ability to design/manage multiple aviation projects and work with staff.
  • Must be able to obtain commercial airfield security clearance.
  • Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license, and be able to obtain certification to drive in AOA movement areas.
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required.
